Our team of specialists concentrates on treating neck and spine neurological disorders such as:
- Back and Neck Pain: Back and neck pain can run the gamut from mild, dull, annoying pain to severe debilitating pain that restricts mobility and interferes with your quality of life. The cause of back and neck pain can be difficult to determine and may have many different causes such as overuse; trauma or injury; infection; obesity; muscle strain, sprain or tear; arthritis; degeneration of vertebrae; osteoporosis; congenital (at birth) abnormalities poor muscle tone.
- Degenerative Disc Disease: Wear and tear of the joints in the spine is usually attributed to a combination of factors, such as repetitive lifting, family history of spinal problems, or past spinal injury. Spinal disks are made up of a soft inner core surrounded by a tough outer wall. As we age, our disks can crack from everyday movement, and minor injuries, and dry out as they become thinner. This can cause pain in your lower back, buttocks, or upper thigh. The pain can come and go or be constant and severe.
- Herniated Discs: When the soft tissue in the center of the disc ruptures and leads that inner portion to “herniate” from the disc, a herniated disc (also called a slipped disc or disc bulge) occurs. This may create pressure against one or more of your spinal nerves which can cause pain, weakness, or numbness/tingling in your neck, shoulder, and/or arm.
- Pinched (Compressed) Nerves: If too much pressure is applied to a nerve by the surrounding tissues – like bones, cartilage, muscles, or tendons. This pressure disrupts the nerve’s function which can cause pain, tingling, numbness, or weakness. In some cases, this compresses a nerve root, and in other cases, muscles or tendons may cause the condition.
- Spinal Stenosis: This condition happens gradually but results in the narrowing of the spinal column which in turn compresses your spinal cord. With spinal stenosis, you may experience leg or arm weakness; lower back pain while standing or walking; numbness in your legs or buttocks; or balance issues.
- Sciatica: Sciatica is caused by a compressed nerve, often caused by a herniated disk, in the lower spine. The compression will result in numbness in your leg along the nerve or a tingling sensation in your feet and toes. The pain typically flows from your lower back through your buttocks area and into your lower limbs.
- Stroke: A stroke, or brain attack, is the sudden loss of blood flow or bleeding into the brain. There are three types of stroke: ischemic, hemorrhagic, and transient ischemic attack (TIA). We have the capability to administer a special medicine to break up a blood clot causing a certain type of stroke. If you suffer from a different type of stroke, we have air and land transfer capabilities to transport you to a higher level of care.
