Information for Visiting DMC

We encourage loved ones to visit patients and we make every effort to provide a safe and comfortable environment for our patients and visitors. While receiving care, patients have the right to decide who may or may not visit, and those visitors are allowed without regard to race, color, national origin, language, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, physical or mental disability, or socioeconomic status.

Our staff and caregivers understand the important role that visitors and support persons play and every effort is made to ensure that our patients’ support person is embraced as a valued member of the care team.

  • To safeguard the comfort of all our patients, visitors are asked to talk quietly and leave promptly when visiting hours have ended.
  • The visiting times and/or the number of visitors may be limited in certain circumstances – and vary unit by unit – to protect the health, safety, and privacy of our patients.
  • If visitors are not feeling well or have an illness that can be transferred to our patients, please refrain from visiting.
  • Visitors must follow infection control precautions, keep noise to a minimum, refrain from taking photographs or videos, and comply with restrictions on smoking, alcohol and illegal substances.
  • Before entering and after leaving your loved one’s room, make sure to wash your hands.
  • All children must be in the company of a responsible adult and may not be left unattended.

Regular Visiting Hours

9:00 am to 9:00 pm, daily. The Intensive Care Unit’s visiting hours are: 8:00 am to 6:30 pm, daily. For safety and security, visitors will need to ring the doorbell at the main entrance for entry into the hospital.

Patient Visitation

Patient visitation will be limited to two (2) people at any one time except under circumstances when more visitors are deemed necessary for the patient’s welfare.

Children under the age of 12 are not permitted in the inpatient units. It is inappropriate for infants and children to be in a surgical patient’s room. If an adult visitor must bring a child with them to the hospital, then another adult should stay with the child in the lobby during the visit. Patients in the first few days after surgery are at a much higher risk of infection so visitors who have experienced a fever, cough, runny nose, sore throat, skin rash, vomiting, or diarrhea in the last 48 hours before a visit is planned are discouraged from visiting until they are certain they will not expose the patient to more risk of disease.

Visitors who are disruptive or disturb patients, staff, or other visitors will be asked to stop the disruptive behavior or be escorted from the premises by security.

No Smoking

There is no smoking allowed in the hospital and on most of the grounds. Visitors should be respectful of Dallas Medical Center’s “No Smoking” policy.

Dallas Medical Center Cafe

Cafeteria Hours: Breakfast 6:45 am to 9:30 am, Lunch: 11:00 am to 2:00 pm

Local, fresh ingredients are incorporated into our weekly menus.

Vending Machines are available outside the ER. There are also vending machines located in the café that can be accessed Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 1:30 pm.

ATMs

We have an ATM located in the main lobby for your convenience.

Customer Care Chain

We value and need any feedback from our patients and their visitors. You will see boxes located at various points throughout the hospital where you can nominate an employee for exemplary service or a job well done. We want to recognize individuals on our staff who go “above and beyond” to help and serve others. We appreciate your thoughts and comments. Comments or general feedback can also be addressed through the “Contact Us” section.

Chaplain Services

Chaplain services provide ministry or pastoral care and counseling to patients and families during times of illness or need. To have chaplain visits or for help in contacting your own clergy, please call the hospital operator. As an integral part of the health care team, chaplains provide ministry and short-term counseling during times of crisis and transition. Chaplains also act as liaison between the patient and clergy of their own faith. Our chapel is located on the main floor of the lobby, right by the elevators next to the Welcome Desk.
