Recently, Corridor-based Dallas Medical Center (DMC) was recognized for their excellence in patient care with The Gynecological Surgery Excellence Award! This award was presented by Healthgrades, the leading resource that connects consumers, physicians and health systems.
This award recognizes the top 10 percent of hospitals evaluated that provide outstanding performance in gynecologic surgery, including hysterectomy and surgery related to the female reproductive system. Healthgrades evaluated 727 eligible hospitals across 16 states and recognized 74 hospitals with the Healthgrades 2020 Gynecologic Surgery Excellence Award.
The evaluation found that:
- From 2016 through 2018, patients treated in hospitals receiving the Healthgrades 2020 Gynecologic Surgery Excellence Award had, on average, a 46.7 percent lower risk of experiencing a complication while in the hospital than if they were treated in hospitals that did not receive the award.*
- From 2016 through 2018, if all hospitals in the analysis performed similarly to those receiving the Healthgrades 2020 Gynecologic Surgery Excellence Award, complications in 10,121 patients could have potentially been avoided.*

Winning awards is nothing new to DMC. In the past two years, they have received nine Healthgrades Five-Star ratings, plus back-to-back Healthgrades Patient Safety Excellence Awards. The Patient Safety Excellence Awards named DMC among the Top 10 percent in the nation for Patient Safety by Healthgrades in 2019, and among the Top 5 percent in the nation for Patient Safety by Healthgrades in 2020.
